Volunteer

When you volunteer at the RAFT, you are supporting youth in learning skills to lead happy, healthy, productive lives.

Volunteers share a desire to help homeless and at-risk youth. Volunteers use their skills, talents and experience to help clients realize a better future.

Through the efforts of our volunteers, clients realize that they are valued and worthwhile members of society. Volunteers help in many areas, from administrative support, to organizing special events and recreational activities, to mentoring and teaching life skills. Some of our volunteer programs include:

Student Placements

If you are interested in pursuing a career in social services, a volunteer placement at the RAFT is a great place to start. Working under staff supervision, students are given an opportunity to learn more about their community while helping those community members most in need of support.

Life Skills Training

The Life Skills Training program helps youth acquire basic skills that they need to live independently.

From cooking and cleaning to laundry and ironing, managing a home and balancing their personal budget, youth learn how to become independent and self-sufficient.

Many of our volunteers have raised families on their own and now use their parenting skills to help our clients.

Special Events

From helping to coach a pick up basketball game to coordinating a movie night to helping with Christmas dinner, volunteers are always needed to support the social and recreational programs of the RAFT.

What People Are Saying
  • I enjoyed cooking group because it teaches us to cook new things we didn't know how to before. The instructor Brian did an amazing job running the program because he made cooking fun. I always look forward to it. It's great to learn how to cook good tasty food when you're on a tight budget.
